Through my travels, love for design and furniture I am constantly dreaming up new ideas to create HENCE my title “The Dreamer”. The trick to making these ideas come to life is to fool Dana aka:”Dream Killer” into thinking that they’re useful, practical and affordable.
If you don’t know by now, we are making progress on our small army and the third kid shall be arriving in May. With that being said we’ve been making some changes to our very oversized bedroom (which will be a blog post at some point) one of which is a wall separation and desk for Dana. She’s been having back pain with this pregnancy and it’s easier for her to stand up at her desk. Which is all I needed to hear and PRESTO! I told her I could make a new stand up desk for under $200.00.
Dream Killer took the bait and the Desk was in full production. I stayed true to my word on the budget;
- Steel tubing–$80.00
- Plywood–$45.00
- IPA or Brazilian Hardwood (wood on the sides)– This I had left over from a fence I built so FREE
- Spray on Polyurethane–$10.00
Grand total–$135.00
Under Budget=Happy Wife=Happy Life
I didn’t grind down the welds for a constant reminder of how far I am from being a good welder.
If you like the look of this thick plywood, don’t go looking for 25 ply or stack 5 sheets on top of each other – You can fake it by stacking 2” wide pieces on the face edge. INSTRUCTIONS: With wood glue, a clamp, and finish nail gun – Stack 4 of the 2” pieces on top of one with glue between – clamp and nail gun from the bottom.
The Dreamer sits with the IPAD and the Dream Killer sits with her 3 monitor PC.
Awesome idea. Beautifully executed. .well done. I am impressed.
Bro you got serious talent.
Thanks dude! Trial and lots of error.
that looks like a $1000+ desk. Amazing design!
Ahh thank you! I’ll sell it to you for 500$? Haha
I’m extremely impressed along with your writing talents as smartly as with the format for your
weblog. Is this a paid subject matter or did you customize it your self?
Either way keep up the excellent high quality writing, it is rare to look a great blog like this
one today..
Hey there thanks for the complements. This was a custom piece I made for Dana when she works from home.
Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s tough to
get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appeal.
I must say you have done a awesome job with this.
In addition, the blog loads super fast for me on Internet explorer.
